Package: Transport and sightseeing + accommodation with breakfast + tour leader

Mode of transport: Mix of public transport and tour bus.
Tour Start Dates and Itinerary:
Note: Private vehicles are restricted around the historic sites of Rome and Venice. Hence a good part of this tour is conducted by public transport and foot. Normal walking ability is needed.

  • Day 1,:
    • Morning – fly to Rome from Netherlands, Berlin, Frankfurt, Brussels
    • 13:15 – meet the tour leader at the airport (FCO)
    • 14:00 – Hotel check-in and lunch break
    • 15:30 – Visit Vatican city and Rome (note: vehicles are restricted. So we use public transport for efficiency and shorter walking distances)
    • 20:00 – dinner break and travel to hotel (3 star hotel like IBIS/B&B etc; outskirts of Rome).
    • Additional paid options: Indian lunch, dinner, colosseum, Roman Forum
  • Day 2, ():
    • 07:30 – breakfast at the hotel
    • 09:00 – continue Vatican city and Rome visit to cover Vatican museum, Colosseum, Piazza Venezia, Roman Forum, Trevi fountain and other major land marks.(note: vehicles are restricted. So we use public transport for efficiency and shorter walking distances)
    • After dinner return to the hotel.
    • Additional paid options: Indian lunch, dinner, Vatican museum, Sistine chapel
  • Day 3, ():
    • 09:00 Check out and head to Pisa (transport mode could be tour bus or train)
    • 12:30 Lunch break
    • 14:00 Visit leaning tower of Pisa
    • 17:00 Head towards Venice (transport mode could be tour bus or train); Dinner on the way. Florence city visit might be possible depending on traffic/delays. Skanda Travels will take the call on the go.
    • 22:00 Check in to hotel (3 star hotel like IBIS/B&B etc; outskirts of Venice)
    • Additional paid options: Pisa Tower entry, Indian lunch, dinner
  • Day 4, ():
    • morning: After breakfast, Check out and visit Venice (keep luggage in the hotel).
    • 18:00: Collect luggage, transfer to Venice (VCE) airport and fly back to your city.
    • Additional paid options: Gondola ride, Doge palace, St Marks Basilica, Indian lunch, dinner.

    Booking Procedure:

    • Step 1 – book the base package (transport + sightseeing + accommodation with breakfast).
    • Step 2 – book your flight tickets asap
    • Step 3 – 3 weeks before the tour, we will coordinate with you for the additional options and also send detailed pickup point information
    • Note: Make sure you have valid passport and Visa/RP until the date you are back from the tour. Carrying original passport and valid visa/RP (if applicable) is mandatory.

    Terms and conditions:

    1. The rates are based on 2 adults (+ their kids) per hotel room basis. If you are alone and want single rooms OR need more than 2 beds/occupancy, please contact booking@skandatravels.com. Kids above 6yrs get an extra (sofa)bed.
    2. Cancellation (cut off time is midnight CET; for the Base package):
      • Till 4 weeks before the tour: cancellation charges of 15€ per seat.
      • Till 2 weeks before the tour: 50% of the cost will be refunded
      • Till 1 week before the tour: 25% of the cost will be refunded
      • Within 1 week of start of the tour: Cost is non-refundable
      • Payments towards add-on activities are fully refundable till 24hrs before the tour start date.
    3. Seat confirmation is subject to availability. Confirmation will normally be done within 24 hrs. If not done in 24 hours, please send an email to booking@skandatravels.com or call/Whatsapp Skanda Travels at (0031) 655 456 091.
    4. A large part of the travel including intercity travel could be conducted by public transport.
    5. Normal walking ability is needed for Rome, Vatican city and Venice. A good part of historic site visit involves walking.
    6. Skanda Travels recommends to have your own travel insurance.
    7. There could be minor variations to the itinerary made just before or during the tour to make the most suitable plan as per the reservation slot received for the activities.

    FAQ

    • What are the other costs I need to keep in mind?
      • Ans: Pls see 'Costs and Terms' tab for the optional costs per adult depending on what you want to do.
    • Are food arrangements also made?
      • Ans: Yes. Breakfast (continental) at the hotel is already included it the price. For lunch/dinner there will be a break. Indian lunch/dinner will be arranged on most days and you can opt for it. If you do not want to opt for it, you will have other options nearby. Once your seats reservation is complete, Skanda Travels will communicate with you on how this will be arranged.
    • Is there possibility for vegetarian food in this trip?
      • Ans: Yes. Throughout the tour you have possibility for veg food (Indian in most places). Usually about 50% of the travelers are vegetarians!
    • I want to send my parents only. Will there be someone to guide them?
      • Ans: The tour leader will accompany the group to all attractions (unless specifically mentioned) in the tour itinerary. As long as they are physically fit for mild walks to attractions, it is not a problem. Usually about 50% of the tour group are elder parents. Please note that we do not have possibility for any physical assitance from our side.
    • Are the tickets to the attractions reserved ahead or do we need to buy on arrival?
      • Ans: Skanda Travels will reserve the tickets in advance for the group and make necessary arrangements so that you do not have to wait in line for the tickets (except where mentioned in the itinerary in the Overview tab). Once your seats reservation is complete, Skanda Travels will communicate with you on how this will be arranged.
    • Will my child also get a seat in the bus?
      • Ans: Yes. It is also a legal requirement that every person irrespective of age gets a seat.
    • How is the room allocation done?
      • Ans: It is 1 room with private bathroom per family (2 adults + 1 or 2 kids). If you are traveling alone, you will be paired with another person of same gender. If you are alone and you need a room for yourself, it can be arranged at an additional cost of 150 euros when requested upfront via email.
    • What is the group like?
      • Ans: It is mostly Indians – singles, couples, families and elder parents.
    • I’m alone. I don’t mind a same gender roommate, but not otherwise.
      • Ans: We will make sure you are either alone or with same gender roommate. You don't pay the extra for the separate single room.
    • We are a group of 3 friends. Is it possible that we share the same room with an extra bed in the room?
      • Ans: This depends on availability of triple rooms. Mention this at the time of reservation by email to booking@skandatravels.com so that arrangements can be checked. Please note that the extra bed may not be comfortable for an adult and so this arrangement is not recommended by Skanda Travels.
    • Do the hotel rooms have a kitchen?
      • Ans: No. These are regular hotel rooms without kitchen. We arrive at the hotel late in the evening after dinner.
    • At the end of each day, I do not intend to have dinner with the group. Will you drop us to the hotel earlier?
      • Ans: Since our bus driver also has to have dinner, this is not possible. However you are welcome to take a taxi at your own cost to the hotel.
    • What are the departure points?
      • Ans: Near the bus/train station. Refer skandatravels.com/pickuppoints for exact location
    • Can I bring along a non-Indian?
      • Ans: You may, but please do set their expectation that the crowd is primarily Indian – the languages, movies, chit chatting could all be in a different language than they can understand!
    • Can I bring a pet?
      • Ans: Unfortunately not.
    • Is wheelchair assistance possible?
      • Ans: This tour requires mandatory boat rides in Venice, buses and walking on pebbled roads in Rome. So the tour is unfortunately not wheelchair friendly even when traveling with your own assistance. We don’t have possibility to provide wheelchair assistance.
    • Will I need to spend anything extra for public transport?
      • Ans: No. When it is part of the described itinerary, the cost is already included.
